How I can help
Science tutoring for middle and high school students in one-on-one, in-person sessions around south Charlotte.
Subjects I tutor
I taught every one of these courses in real middle and high school classrooms over my 30+ year career.
-
AP Biology
The whole course, from biochemistry and cell energetics through genetics, evolution, and ecology — plus the free-response practice and data analysis the exam actually asks for.
-
Biology
Cells, genetics and heredity, energy and life, evolution, ecology, and lab skills. I help students understand the concepts and mechanisms, connect the dots between them, and see how the big picture fits together to form systems and processes.
-
Chemistry
Standard chemistry — the periodic table, atomic structure, matter and measurements, chemical bonding, reaction types, gas laws, solutions, molecules, and lab skills. Note that I do not tutor AP Chemistry.
-
Physics
Introductory and standard physics: motion, forces, energy, waves, and basic electricity. Note that I do not tutor AP Physics.
-
Physical Science
An 8th- and 9th-grade introduction to non-living matter and energy, including chemistry, physics, and earth and space science. Builds skills like the scientific method, measurement, and problem solving.
-
Oceanography
Currents, tides, marine ecosystems, and coastal geology. An elective I taught for years and genuinely love.
-
Forensics
Evidence analysis and lab technique, along with the biology and chemistry underneath all the crime-scene material. This elective was always a student favorite.
-
General middle school science
Life, earth, and physical science for 6th- through 8th-graders. Helps build study habits and critical thinking skills for high school.
ACT Science support is available on request. I do not tutor SAT or ACT math or reading.

Why AP Biology costs more: It’s a college-level course that requires more preparation and covers more detail per unit. It also includes exam-specific strategies to help students navigate the different types of questions they’ll see.
